It's a Family Affair

Since I was but a likkle yout/pre teen, I use to go to the village twice a summer with my god mother, my sister, my next door neighbor, and maybe some of their co workers. Now anyone from New York who can remember the 1990s Village knows that this is where people watching was invented. Forget Maury, we often cast our votes for male or female and many times never quite figured it out. But besides people watching, picking out a fly outfit from Joyce Leslie for my godmother to buy me, or taking a sip of her triple shot pina colada at the better BBQs, we always spent at least one half hour outside the cage watching the passion of 10 young men battling for their spot in West 4th summer league history. I use to stand outside the gate looking in at the people inside wondering who they were and how they all knew one another, as they joked and laughed together at the same things. I t was like a family reunion. Ten plus year later, I am on the inside and I still get high from the passion emitting off the people in here. everyone hypes up Rucker Park and yeah that's a totally different atmosphere, but I'd much rather be with family.
